The final round of the outdoor season was back to the familiar soil of Walton, Ontario, with the week leading to the race crowning amateur champions and concluded with the Pros.   The statement “It just feels right to be back here and finishing here” was used time and time again.

The crew did an excellent job with the facility as the weather kept them on their toes with the rain Friday night.  The appearance of the facility and size of the crowd were top notch leading to an exciting championship day.

The points race was close with 2 motos remaining, and Jess held only a 3 point margin on Redemption Racings’ Joey Crown who had been on a hot streak the last few races.   The two would qualify 1-2 with Jess edging him out for the pole position, showing both were here to win.

Moto 1 would see young Marco Cannella grab his first Royal Distributing Holeshot of his career with his teammate right behind!  Marco would ease up a bit on lap two realizing it was Jess behind him and giving JP the clean track and the lead.  The two would run 1-2 for nearly the whole moto until GDR Fox mounted Dylan Wright would come from the first turn pileup (that also claimed Joey Crown and Shawn Maffenbeier) to pass Marco with 2 laps to go.   So, with Pettis winning the moto and Maff only able to rebound to 5th and Crown to 8th, Jess would head to the final moto with a 15 point lead.

Moto 2 would see the Rookie Marco Cannella lead the opening laps and looking like he belonged up there.  This time the other title contenders were up front, and the battle was on.  As things settled down around the ½ mark, Wright would lead over Crown, Cannella and Pettis.   As the moto came to a close nothing would change, and Jess just managed the race and the lappers to claim his first Pro National Championship and the Back to Back Championships for the team.  Jess would end with a 1-3 for second overall on the day. Marco Cannella’s 3-4 would see him claim his first pro podium with a 3rd for the event.  Truly an amazing day for the team!

1st Jess Pettis

5th Marco Cannella

10th Hayden Halstead (unable to compete in the last 2 rounds due to injury)

Triple Crown Standings (AX/MX/SX) for the team:

2nd Marco Cannella (-68 points)

3rd Jess Pettis (-72 points)

Now the team turns to SX Series with another title up for grabs over 4 rounds of indoor racing.  Both Jess and Marco who sit 2-3 in the overall Rockstar Triple Crown points look to finish the year strong.  Of course, Jess Pettis and the team have one other small race to attend as he represents Canada at the MXoN in October!
