Keep It Rolling….

Round 1 of the 4 round SX portion of the Rockstar Triple Crown series kicked off this past weekend in Montreal QC to a reported crowd of 20 000 enthusiastic fans.  It had been 6 years since the event had been run inside the stadium but thanks to the Collab between Gestev group and Jetwerks it was back with a bang!

Utilizing three quarters of the floor for the track and the rest for indoor parking for the teams was new and well received as fans were able to get up close and personal with the riders, bikes and rigs.  A unique add that is hopefully incorporated next year again.

Jess coming in hot after winning the outdoor championship, with all of his US SX experience was the heavy favourite in the MX2 class.  From the first time riders hit the track he was the one to set the bar and left the afternoon program with the fastest qualifying time.  His rookie teammate, Marco Cannella, riding in the stadium for the first time, showed he had been doing his homework as he linked the sections of track together to sit 5th fastest heading into the main event.

The gate dropped for the main and the Royal Distributing FXR Yamaha duo shot to the front.  Pettis would take the Royal Distributing holeshot with his teammate in 3rd.   While Cannella would battle KTM’s Tanner Ward and Kawasaki’s Shawn Maffenbeier for the final podium spot Jess would slip away to a comfortable lead.  Marco would make a few mistakes that would leave him 5th on the night, and he had a crew of new fans in the stands.  Pettis would end up with a 10 second lead at the checkers taking the win with a perfect day.  Top Qualifier, Holeshot and the Main event Win.   Not a bad way to start the series.

Next week the team heads to London ON for round #2
