For Immediate Release Richmond, ON (July 15, 2019) Gopher Dunes has a reputation for being the roughest and toughest national of the year and it lived up to its hype once again. Hot and humid with a track that takes no prisoners makes it tough on riders and teams alike. With a three week break in the books it was time to see how everyone would handle the heat of the East. Right off the bat the guys looked like they were ready to contend as all 3 riders posted qualifying times in the top 10. Moto 1 would see a great battle for the lead between Wright / Pettis and Renzland until a small tip over would leave a large gap and Luke would have to settle for 3rd in the moto. Cannella would charge all moto long after a couple slow opening laps to charge all the way to 5th. Halstead would start just inside the top 20 and work his way up, make a mistake, dropped back and work his way up again… He just missed the top 10 with an 11th and just needed to be mistake free the next moto. Moto 2 would see Renzland and Cannella in the top 5 for most of the moto while Halstead ran just inside the top 10. As the grueling heat and tough track normally does at Gopher it turns more to survival than a race. Riders focus on staying up and not making mistakes rather than the normal racing and passing. At the checkers it was Renzland in 4th Cannella 7th and Halstead 9th. Our best team finish to date with all 3 riders in the top 10 at the end of the day.
